Redbud Plumbing - Origins

RBP-Origins.jpg

Since I was a young man, I always believed that I would become a business owner. Growing up in a restaurant family in Houston, I started working when I was 12 years old, helping out wherever I could and wanting to be a part of the team. Surrounded by the best leadership and guidance and, unknown to me, my path to business ownership began.

I left Houston in 1991 to attend my dream school, The University of Texas at Austin. The city was fresh, inviting and on the verge of historic growth. I quickly adapted to my new home. The years to follow were spent developing lifelong friendships, working, going to school, and playing 100s of music gigs in the live music capital of the world. The 90s in Austin was a signature decade for me.

I graduated from UT in 1999 and started working for my neighborhood plumbing company. The plumbing industry resonated deeply with my work ethic, so my career path was solidified, and I spent the next 20 years developing my understanding of the business and the trade sides of the plumbing industry while applying my personal brand of customer service.

It was during that time I met Redbud Plumbing’s Co-Founder and Responsible Master Plumber, Jason Smith. I have always gravitated towards individuals with quality character, ethics, morals, integrity and pride in craft. I found all of those characteristics in Jason, and a friendship was born. I was, and continue to be, incredibly impressed with Jason’s expert skill as a plumber and his uncanny mastery of plumbing code.

In January of 2020 I started the next chapter in my life, business ownership. Jason and I began building our new plumbing company in the face of a new global pandemic, COVID-19. Needless to say, we would have preferred to open outside of the hardships that COVID-19 imposed, but we proceeded with confidence through preparedness.

Unique and appropriate business names, like band names, are difficult to pin down. Redbud was born out of an appreciation of nature and seasonal change. Many years ago I was told that spring was right around the corner when the unmistakeable pink blooms of the redbud tree reveal themselves on bare branches. I observe this phenomenon every year in Austin. These blooms fill me with the excitement of newness and signify the time to start planning spring gardens. Redbud Plumbing embodies the miraculous growth, consistency and dependability that spring brings to our lives.

Since Redbud Plumbing officially opened its doors in July 2020, we have grown through an incredible support network of family, friends and colleagues. This network has enabled us to provide expert plumbing services to all our clients. We are also quite fortunate to have welcomed Dilan Green to our team in August 2020 as our lead service technician.

We look forward to watching our Redbud grow, cultivating new client relationships and providing the care and expertise required to flourish into a specimen heritage plumbing company.
